A "smart" light can have many features to save you money. An LED bulb typically uses 80% less electricity than an incandescent bulb. For example a 14.5 watt LED bulb is as bright as a 100 watt incandescent bulb. Although LED bulbs seem more expensive initially, LED bulbs actually more than pay for themselves in energy savings. Smart bulbs / fixtures can also connect to your phone / house via WiFi or a bridge and can be programmed into schedules, where they will turn on / off at specific times. You can even program your lights so they turn on when you arrive home and turn off when you leave the house.

Did you know that many phone / laptop chargers use power even when no device is plugged into them? You could avoid this "phantom" energy drain by unplugging devices constantly when you're not using them. Who wants that hassle though? With a smart outlet or smart surge bar, you can simply turn off / on the power to devices with your voice (via a smart assistant) or on your smartphone.
